Todd Osborn is an emphatically multi-talented individual. Aside from his engineering, linguistic and technological pursuits, he also produces visceral jungle as Soundmurderer for Rephlex and WéMè and dancefloor electronics as Osborne for Spectral Sound and Ghostly International. Over in Europe later this year for a rare visit, now is the chance for him to bring the noise!

Duke Slammer burst out of nowhere in late 2011 with his funk-tastic album “Everybody Sweat”, this was hotly followed by a super collectable series of 3x 7″ transparent vinyl’s which were quickly snaffled up by fans of funk, disco and skweee.

Duke Slammer’s sound has been described as “funky as hell” (lowriders blog) and comes served with a double dose of moog bass, washed down with a shot of drum wonk and crawling with wriggly worm synth lines. Immediate comparisons were drawn with artists like George Clinton, Funkadelic and Zapp, to “new school” producers such as Space Dimension Controller, Dam Funk and Dabrye.

2012 “Year of the Slammer” sees Duke take his live show on the road, doing his duty for your booty using hardware samplers and synthesizers, you wont see any faking the funk here! More limited 7” vinyl releases are also on the way via the Bonus7 label.

Radio support around the globe from BBC (UK), Laid Back Radio (BE), Le Mouv Radlow (FR), Sub FM (World) etc.

DJ love also coming in from bigwigs such as Laurent Garnier, Mary Ann Hobbs, Space Dimension Controller, Kid606 and many more.

Mark Archer is available for DJ sets. Please email agency@thecentrifuge.co.uk with offers stating date, location, budget and other artists on the bill.

Mark Archer started his Production career in 1988 when along with Dean Meredith, he ventured up to the newly opened Blue Chip Studios in his hometown of Stafford. Starting off as a hip hop/sample house group called Rhythm Mode D, they recorded a few tracks for the studio’s own label before branching out with different styles including acid house and techno amongst others. Archer was a founder member of Bizarre Inc., before starting up a new project under the name Nexus 21 who had a string of releases on renowned labels such as Network and R&S Records – and were famously the first artists to receive a remix by the legendary Carl Craig on their ‘Still (Life Keeps Moving)’ single.

At the same time, Mark began a side project, which was to become one of the biggest names in rave history, Altern 8…

Now DJing under his own name, keeping the sounds of old skool, acid, breakbeat, house and techno pumping around the world.

Essentially a hardware based live artist, Neil Landstrumm has released many records on some of electronic musics’ finest labels over last two decades. Highlights include Peacefrog Records, Tresor Records and in recent years the influential Planet Mu label from the UK. Neil has released nine LP’s to date and was recently chosen as the only artist to remix DJ Shadow’s new project for Island Records. The other constant throughout his illustrious career has been the Scandinavia label which is a signature attached to all of his works.

Neil has toured internationally and also lived for a number of years in New York but is now based back in Edinburgh where he runs the ‘Witness Rooms’ studio. His signature sound is created with a marriage of cult analogue gear and digital production techniques honed over the years. A pioneer of new electronic styles, often copied and imitated he is a unique artist always at the spearhead of experimental, low frequency electronics.

Debasser launched onto the music scene back 2002 with the release of the critically acclaimed track ”Fat Girls” on NovaMute. Having been previously discovered by the late Disco D’s for his detroit ghetto-tech label (GTI Records), it was Richie Hawtin, who discovered this electro gem and brought it to the attention of the UK based label, where it was re-released with international success.

Hitting the record boxes of a number of major heavy weights around the DJ world, such as the likes of Dave Clarke, Lauren Garnier and Andrew Weatherall, Debasser began putting together his now legendary live shows, part of which was to become the bass drenched floor filler that is “Dark Smile”. It was Debasser’s “genre busting” styles and techniques in both his the live shows and releases that were a key role in creating the UK Bass scene, and his resulting sets in some of the greatest clubs in the UK and Europe.

Since then Debasser has continued to put out bass infused party tracks on a number of labels. as well as setting up his own WIDE Records, with bass partner DJ Cutlass Supreme, on which he released the debut album “Negating Condiments” and the EPs“”Bassket Case” and “Music Freak”. Along side this he has also worked on a number of remix projects for the likes of Chicago Ghetto House Kind, DJ Slugo

Debasser finished his busy gig schedule from 2010 with a bass shaking live set in Koko and is starting 2011 with the release of his new EP “The TIngler” out at the end of February. This will be followed closely by his 2nd release on the infamous Seed Records with the down right dirty electro track that is “Gents”. Plus he’s already back working on a follow up EP for the summer and plans for an all new album by the end of 2011.

http://www.ovuca.com / Discogs

Born in Finland in 1976, Aleksi Perala has been an independent producer and a prolific electronic music composer for over 20 years. Aleksi reflects that growing up in Finland has influenced his music deeply; nature has been inspirational because it can be breathtakingly beautiful.

His first release on Rephlex Records was under the pseudonym Ovuca in 1999. The album included the best of his demo tapes 89-97. Since then, he has released numerous EPs, albums and compilation tracks under a number of different aliases on the label.

Aleksi’s most recent releases – “Project V” [2007], his “Boom Blaster” EP [2009] and his latest album “Mental Union” [2009] are the reflections of continual advancements in his experience, knowledge and understanding of music, acoustics and sound. [Boom Blaster contains his first Hertz frequency mathematics and sine wave based track called "The Moon", followed by similar experiments in Mental Union]. Aleksi simply states that these releases are to him a representation of the vivid and evocative genre of Braindance. They are a natural progression from the familiar sounds of Ovuca and Astrobotnia but with his newer, more mature perspective.

Aleksi has since continued his passionate and relentless production of music. To be expected in 2011 is a second “Boom Blaster” EP and CD album and the eagerly anticipated “Mental Union 2″. All of this and Aleksi has moved to Bristol [UK] and he asserts that 2011 has been another “premier cru” year for his music with influence drawn from his experiences in the south-west of the UK so far.

Alongside these many expected releases for 2011 and beyond, is Aleksi’s forward focus towards more gigs and tours. Knowledge of Aleksi’s previous gigs means that this is the promise of many great and diverse experiences. From lush atmospheres in beautiful clubs, art centres or museums to laser magic in huge warehouse raves. From ambient forest gatherings with the Northern Lights to brain-melting raves with audio-visual mayhem.

2011 will witness the re-launch of Aleksi’s website. Aleksi says that it is being built to act as an inspirational and educational hub for anyone who loves sound and good music. Music plays a role in everybody’s life. Aleksi hopes that through the creation of his music he can be a part of yours.

Vaetxh is youthful Bristol native Rob Clouth, raised on a steady diet of mathrock until a chance exposure with high intensity electronic music led him down the digital production alley. Initial forays into IDM territory were superseded with the acquisition of a sub-woofer and his realisation of the sensory affects of bass on the body and brain. The end result is something refreshingly unique in today’s hyper-saturated sonic landscape – intricate, engaging and emotive scapes incorporating the aesthetics of dubstep, glitch, IDM, ambience and field recordings.

It’s in the interplay of natural and unnatural, of the real and the synthetic, the planned and the unexpected, the mechanical and the organic, that Vaetxh finds his inspiration.

BaseLogic founder member Edmund Robert Chamberlain, preternaturally gifted composer and awkward gentleman, refused to commit his live sound to vinyl for many years and remained a shadowy figure despite calls from such luminaries as John Peel to come in from the cold and tell us what the deuce he was about. After years of tense negotiation, the three part ”Fixxy” series was prised from his white knuckles and unleashed on the world.

It went down like a spoon at a jam festival. The reaction was so overwhelming everyone had to sit down, and when no-one was looking Surgeon, Vent and Ochre did some remixes and the ”Mixxy” series was born. Stay tuned for further developments from this label, as no-one can be quite sure what, if anything, will happen next…

Heavily inspired by early Rave and Detroit Electro, his first release on Breakin’ Records in 2003 was described as a pioneering UK take on the Detroit Techno Bass sound. Since then, Blackford has released tracks on labels such as WIDE, WeMe, DeadLock Records and Twilight 76 Records. In 2009 Paul Blackford set up Militant Science as an output for his own and other artists material.

Christoph De Babalon is available for live sets. Please email agency@thecentrifuge.co.uk with offers stating date, location, budget and other artists on the bill.

CHRISTOPH DE BABALON is known for tripping beats, dark wide spaces and eternal melancholy. He released his first record in 1994 on Hamburg’s cult label Fischkopf. This record (as well as all that followed over the next years) were extensively played by BBC DJ & legend JOHN PEEL. Right after his debut he began working with ALEC EMPIRE’s Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR) where he, besides a couple of other records released his most important work: the legendary album ‘If You’re Into It, I’m Out Of It’. DHR still say that it remains their most important release.

“The most menacing record I own” – THOM YORKE of Radiohead about “If You’re Into it, I’m Out Of It”

“The most outstanding album on DHR [...] – nobody will ever top this!!!” – ALEC EMPIRE about “If You’re Into it, I’m Out Of It”

“Scylla & Charybdis”: the latest release by Christoph de Babalon is dedicated to two unfortunate girls from Greek mythology. Once beautiful nymphs, both were jinxed to live their life as monsters.

To describe his melancholic viewpoint of their fate, he chose the long forgotten romantic art of the Symphonic Poem. Influenced by works such as Arnold Schaberg’s “Veklarte Nacht”, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Isle Of The Dead” and Richard Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarathustra”, Christoph de Babalon transfers this technique into the present and breaks
the tradititon by incorporating the human and inhuman voices of ALEXANDRA VON BOLZ’N and HANAYO to create the most haunting experience for the listener. His Diptychon about the unforgettable story of “Scylla & Charybdis” transcends past, present and future, myth and reality.

At the moment, Christoph de Babalon is preparing to release a single and album on Tigerbeat6 records.

One of the most distinctive audio/visual performers to date, violinist, producer and film-maker Zan Lyons’ stunning shows have received critical acclaim across the globe as explosive beats collide with melancholic concertos. Using his laptop and custom foot pedals, Zan loops his violin, voice and sounds while manipulating his haunting visuals to incredible effect. Zan’s film-making process retains the organic approach established by his music. A one man army, Zan directs, shoots, edits, and lights everything himself as well as doing all of the complex animation and visual effects work.

Recently, Zan has performed with the likes of Battles and Chris Clark as well as collaborating with Warp Records’ Leila and Nicolette. Impressed by Lyons’ unique audio/visual outlook, the UK’s Latitude Festival invited Zan to remix Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner. This ever-evolving live reimagining of Scott’s classic sees lyons cut up scenes from the film-splicing in his own work in the process and replacing the soundtrack with his own score.

‘Zan Lyons vs Blade Runner’ has since been performed at: Berlin’s Berghain club; the Big Chill Festival; BFI Southbank; Tresor Berlin; Palma De Mallorca; LEV festival in Spain and the UK’s Leeds Festival with further performances planned for 2011 and beyond.

A frequent collaborator with Alec Empire, Zan plays in Empire’s band ‘The Hellish Vortex’ and is completing work on a film project with the newly reformed Atari Teenage Riot and the band’s latest music video.

Luke Sanger has been DJing since the mid 1990′s and producing tracks for the last decade.

In 2003 Luke moved to Bristol for 5 years and studied Creative Music Technology at Bath Spa University. After a year working as an audio technician in south London, he now currently resides in Norwich where he continues to refine his productions and teach music technology.

He currently records and gigs under the pseudonym ‘Luke’s Anger’. Under this guise he has produced and released an array of tracks spanning back to 2004.

He performs an original Live PA using a combination of hardware and software to deliver spontaneous and dancefloor-freindly techno, once described as “wonkier than a table with three legs and grimier than an army truck!”. His gigs have taken him all over Europe, the U.S and just about every dirty corner and muddy festival of the U.K.

Luke also runs well-respected independent record label – Bonus Round, focusing on releasing quirky and challenging dancefloor tracks.

Mr 76ix is a mysterious, legendary character in the world of electronic music. A long-time master of the glitchy rave sound that Skam Records became world famous for in the nineties, his amazing productions remained shielded from the public consciousness until his notorious live set at the Autechre-curated ATP in 2003. His performance was hailed as the highlight of the whole festival by the people in the know. Since then three albums and one remix LP of glorious electronic goodness have appeared on Skam, and the Manchester-based don has honed his sonic creations yet further, adding a crisp, acidic electro sound to his darkwave flavour and penchant for sweet, strange melody.

Icarus is the innovative electronic music duo of Ollie Bown and Sam Britton. Beating to a decidedly experimental electronic tempo, from their sampler based deconstructions of drum and bass in the 90s to the continuing generative and improvised software based genre smashing that has characterised their more recent releases, Icarus have always carved their own distinctive, eclectic path through the world of electronic music, an approach that has seen them release a plethora of records on labels as diverse as The Leaf Label, Output Recordings, Temporary Residence and Domino. It is also an approach that has seen both Ollie and Sam independently pursue musical interests in both academic research and with other musicians and ensembles to great acclaim; in particular through the collective Not Applicable, influences that continue to inform the dizzying and unique progression that is their collective alter ego.

True to their love of computers and improvisation and their continued quest to develop ever more creative computational agents that inform their music, many of Icarus’ more recent releases have featured excerpts from live recordings, culminating in the release of ‘All Is For The Best In The Best Of All Possible Worlds‘. Recorded over a European tour in 2009 which billed Icarus with the likes of Tim Exile, Furt, Hudson Mohawke and Isan ‘All Is For The Best In The Best Of All Possible Worlds’ documents the enourmous breadth of ideas and musical form Icarus are capable of in performance, a feat which has even drawn the attention of critics who deride computers in musical performance.

Mixing neo-electro, minimal techno and other flavors of underground dance music, D’Arcangelo consists of twin brothers Fabrizio and Marco D’Arcangelo. Lovers of new wave and dark synth pop, the twins met the likeminded Max Durante and formed Automatic Sound Unlimited. The project premiered in 1992 with the Roman’s Attak EP and lasted two years before it dissolved.

Two years later the twins would cement their status with a self-titled EP on Rephlex, a fitting home alongside hero and influence, Richard D. James aka Aphex Twin. With their appreciation of noisy synths, D’Arcangelo fit perfectly with the label’s idea of a “Braindance” movement and the dislocated dance music that defined it. Another EP for Rephlex and half of a split 7″ on the Suction label appeared before the debut full-length, Shipwreck, arrived in 1999. A bit less noisy were 2002′s second full-length for Rephlex, Broken Toys’ Corner, and that year’s remix EP for White Leather, Corner. They appeared on Rephlex’s limited-edition soundtrack to the video game Manhunt in 2004, then returned to their slow pace by waiting till 2006 for their next release, the Pro 188 EP.

With the duo back on a roll, the full-length Eksel landed in 2007 follwed by a some remixes an EP for 030303 records “Cradle and GO!” and their Rephlex album “The Album”.

For those who aren’t acquainted with Bong-Ra’s sound will be in for a pleasant surprise. As one of the pioneers of the Breakcore genre, Bong-Ra has managed to mix all his musical influences into a furiously energetic style. No remorse and no concession. Where other artists stick to their musical blueprint, Bong-Ra never stops the pursuit of musical development, hoping to catch his listeners off guard every single time.

Bong-Ra, Jason Kohnen’s electronic alter ego saw life in 1996. Hailing from The Netherlands, Bong-Ra initially started out as a DJ, but quickly focussed his priority on producing his own music in 1997. Djax Records signed Bong-Ra in 1998, proceeding to release the debut album “New Millennium Dreadz” and the 12-inch series “Darkbreaks” Volumes 1 and 2. Bong-Ra at that time was accompanied by MC Guzman on vocals.

In 2001 Clash Records (a hardcore jungle orientated 7-inch label) was set up. In that same year on the 12th of February John Peel invited Bong-Ra to do a “Peel Session” which was released on UK label Deathsucker Records. Several vinyl releases followed in the period between 2001 and 2003. From 2001 to 2004 the “Breakcore a Go-Go!” parties were run and organised by FFF and Bong-Ra becoming one of the first (bi) monthly regular Breakcore nights in Europe. “Bikini Bandits, Kill! Kill! Kill!” the second full length album was released in 2003 on Supertracks Records. This album saw an audiovisual co-operation with US based film company Gyromart. The track “666MPH” was used on the Bikini Bandits DVD and the videoclip to “666MPH” aired on MTV. The Bikini Bandits audiovisual project became an exposition in the Museum of Modern Arts in Arnhem, The Netherlands. That year Bong-Ra also appeared on some of Holland’s biggest Festivals : Lowlands, Metropolis and Eurosonic. Also a small UK tour with DJ Scud and Soundmurderer followed.

In 2004 Bong-Ra set up his second label Kriss Records, focussing on edgier breaks (mostly combining metal and breakbeats, releasing amongst others : Drumcorps, Scotch Egg and Venetian Snares). That same year the Center for Electronic Music (CEM) in Amsterdam asked Bong-Ra to produce a special 4 track EP solely using vintage equipment in the CEM studios, resulting in the “Colony of Electric Machines” EP on the Vynalogica label. The “Monsters of Mash Up” European Tour in 2005 with Shitmat (UK) and Enduser (USA) and a Japanese Tour with Parasite (UK) was followed by the third full length “I am the God of Hellfire” released on Very Friendly and Ad Noiseam and the jungle/raggacore CD compilation “Warrior Sound” on Supertracks (NL). In 2006 a special 4 track remix EP of Venetian Snares’ “Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett” and the debut of Bong-Ra’s main side project The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble were released on Planet Mu (UK). The politically charged album “Soldaat van Oranje” was released on Sublight Records (CAN). Bong-Ra returned for his second Lowlands Festival, becoming one of the highlights of the Festival (according to Dutch magazine OOR).

A second European tour and split 12-inch with Enduser “The Kill” and a memorable muddy Glastonbury Festival highlighted 2007. In 2008 Bong-Ra released his 5th full album entitled “Full Metal Racket” containing the 12″ “Grindkrusher” and “SickSickSick” both released on Ad Noiseam, a 12″ on Zhark Records followed entitled “Vitus Blister”. Bong-Ra continued his non-stop performances covering mostly all of Europe and establishing himself as one of the best performers in hardcore electronic territory. His tri-monthly events in Utrecht (Rebeltronics) and Arnhem (Megatronics) continue to flourish succesfully. A small production pause was taken during late 2008 and practically the whole of 2009 for his other important project “The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble”. Focussing on the second full length album “Here Be Dragons”. Succesfully venturing into the darker side of jazz and electronica.

2010 saw a return of Bong-Ra 2.0. A new EP on Ad Noiseam entitled “Monster”, a 12″ of the Peace Off dubstep sister label Ruff with two dubsmashers ; Megasaurus and Gargantuan! the adaptation of Hecq/Exilion’s Spheres of Fury. Also Clash Records saw light with Bong-Ra’s jungle alias Killahman Machine, releasing Clash 013. Recently, the new 6th full length Bong-Ra album was released on Ad Noiseam.

Perhaps best known for his work with Combat Recordings and as label boss of Yellow Machines, Jude Greenaway aka Scanone is a London-based producer and DJ and AV artist who has been producing, performing and releasing music for well over a decade.
Dead Fader is the recently Berlin-relocated doom-noise-bass project led by ex-Brightonite John Cohen, bringing a previously unimaginable level of intensity to the dubstep scene. Grinding rhythms, searing sonics and shattered eardrums are what you can expect from a live performance. There’s distortion, and then there’s Dead Fader…

“It’s playful but sick. Like a puppy with extremely sharp teeth” – Justin K Broadrick (Jesu/Godflesh)

2011 Interview

Biography
Raoul Sinier is without doubt a unique artist. He juggles music, illustration and animation with a freewheeling talent. The race of fantastic creatures that escape from Raoul Sinier’s imagination seem to be characterised by the same wavering reason found in human beings. The artist breathes absurd and derisory life into whale-men, animals, robots and other creatures in a dark and twisted world.

His music captures emotions and nails then down somewhere, on a familiar door. This kidnapping curiously liberates the listener and enables their penetration into the very sophisticated musical universe of the musician.

The power of the inspiring alchemy is ever increasing with its captivating melodies and ultraviolent rhythms. Films, animation… the videos he conceives and directs invent a wild form of multiplexing into which are plunged atypical images and music which follow an improbable script.

But beyond the fury of monsters and the screaming music is the exacerbated sensitivity of a demanding individual, totally refractory to the intellectual arts world. For several years now the artistic activity of Raoul Sinier has been gently spreading its way across the borders of Europe…

Press Excerpts

Rockarolla
Radiohead may have made their own, angsty ter- ritorial pissings over the genre of existential glitch pop with Kid A, but Raoul Sinier presents a genuine challenge to their throne. The stereotype of the electronic musician meekly hunched over a laptop is squashed by a Pythonesque giant foot, so epic are some of these tracks.

The Wire
This blend of the whimsical and the disquieting characterises the album as a whole: fairground flourishes are knitted to brooding industrial shades by crisply sculpted breakbeats and vintage keyboards trace out imperiously ascending prog patterns. Sinier is based in Paris and his music belongs to same strange corner of the French imagination as the film Delicatessen.

XLR8R
Raoul Sinier, the Bo Jackson of the multimedia world, is the epitome of a hardworking man. In addition to producing intricate, gritty sound structures that fall somewhere at the meeting point of IDM, hip-hop, and breakcore, the Paris-based artist also happens to be damn good at illustration and animation as well. WTF!

Liability

Absolument essentiel.

Inpress Magazine
The joy is that you never really know where Ra is going to take you next, at one moment drawing upon melancholic Boards of Canadaesque wisps with cute synth lines, the next fracturing the same tune up into digital chaos. Inspired and original, there is not one false step on Raoul Loves You.

BBC.co.uk
(…) and sound-masher Ra unleashes one of the most brilliantly heavy and strangely funky pieces of electronica we’ve heard in ages on the picture-disc-only Ev.Panic (Planet Mu).

Cuemix-magazine
“Huge Samurai Radish” is what I expected from Raoul Sinier, but don’t get me wrong I expected that he astonish me again and again. A brilliant album – that leaves with more appetite and a roaring stomach.

Raoul Sinier is an absolute breathtaking phenomenon. His music is made to loose words – and words aren’t made to describe his all-embracing art. I think the secret behind his genius is that he thinks about every move he make and while he thinks about his moves he acts.

PopMatters
Sublight managed to pull over a few names from Britain itself, including The Gasman and Somatic Responses. Ra, a visual artist and musician hailing from Paris, is not only one of the latest examples, but one of the more promising new arrivals.

Make no mistake, Brain Kitchen announces the presence of Raoul Sinier in the league of Miguel Depedro (kid606) and Guillermo Scott Herren (Prefuse 73, Savath + Savalas) as leaders of the circuit bending fusion of hip-hop bravado and broken electronics.

Gothtronic
What do you get when apparant opposites such as breakcore and downtempo are merged and topped with abit of glitch? Ra aka Raoul Siniers from France knows the answer and fully expands on this on his second album. What he shows here is truly phenomenal.

With this album Raoul earned himself a place between people like Kid606 or Venetian Snares for real. A masterpiece of modern electronics.

Excaim!
Ra has no regard for traditional song structures, a technique that’s rampant in underground electronic circles, but one that he’s definitely mastered the nonchalance of.

Trax

Sutemos
I just love geniuses. This album is meant for those who are sick of everyday banality, boring melodies, fake art and artificial tenderness. Master Ra will take care of you.

Mowno
