Mixing neo-electro, minimal techno and other flavors of underground dance music, D’Arcangelo consists of twin brothers Fabrizio and Marco D’Arcangelo. Lovers of new wave and dark synth pop, the twins met the likeminded Max Durante and formed Automatic Sound Unlimited. The project premiered in 1992 with the Roman’s Attak EP and lasted two years before it dissolved.

Two years later the twins would cement their status with a self-titled EP on Rephlex, a fitting home alongside hero and influence, Richard D. James aka Aphex Twin. With their appreciation of noisy synths, D’Arcangelo fit perfectly with the label’s idea of a “Braindance” movement and the dislocated dance music that defined it. Another EP for Rephlex and half of a split 7″ on the Suction label appeared before the debut full-length, Shipwreck, arrived in 1999. A bit less noisy were 2002′s second full-length for Rephlex, Broken Toys’ Corner, and that year’s remix EP for White Leather, Corner. They appeared on Rephlex’s limited-edition soundtrack to the video game Manhunt in 2004, then returned to their slow pace by waiting till 2006 for their next release, the Pro 188 EP.

With the duo back on a roll, the full-length Eksel landed in 2007 follwed by a some remixes an EP for 030303 records “Cradle and GO!” and their Rephlex album “The Album”.

Chevron is electronic music producer Jonathan Valentine. After experimenting with synths and samplers at school in Blackpool, he moved to Brighton where he lived with Shitmat and Tim Exile, and naturally became involved with the infamous Wrong Music crew. He now resides at his studio in central London.

His music is a melting pot of a wide range of dance styles from acid and ambient to dubstep, garage and jungle, with a large dose of electro, rave and techno. Intricate rhythms, interesting time signatures and quirky poppy melodies are a characteristic of his sound. His debut album “Everything’s Exactly The Same” on Mike Paradinas’s Planet Mu label received praise in DJ Mag, I-DJ, Rock Sound and The Wire. Releasing original music over the years on 030303, Ad Noiseam, Acroplane, The Centrifuge, Planet Mu and many more led to great reviews at BBC.co.uk, Boomkat, and Vice Magazine. His music has been played on radio stations worldwide.

Recently Chevron has been honing his live performance, which involves live use of the genre-defining TB-303 bassline synthesizer, modular synthesis, live sampling and analogue drum machines. His long-awaited forthcoming album “Obstacles” is to be released late 2011 complete with remixes from Altern-8′s Mark Archer, DMX Krew, Luke Vibert and EOD.

Since 2007 he has made all his new music available for free via Net-labels, preferring to write quickly and release music often. Ewan’s music incorporates elements of Jungle, Hardcore, Oldschool Rave, Acid, Chiptune and Breakcore.

Herv also preforms live on a regular basis. His current live show incorporates elements of his own material chopped and blended with classic jungle and rave tunes. He has played such events as the 030303 Rave Edition 4 in Utrecht, Wrong Music XMas Megarave in Brighton, numerous Irish festivals such as D.E.A.F., Mantua, Life Festival, Feile Le Cheile and Rathlin/Jigs and Rigs, and toured in Poland, Germany, Holland and Estonia.

Ewan is also one half of the electronic improvisation/musique concrete duo “Gland and Conduit” with Meljoann Ryan and their first album “Ore” is due for release in early 2010 on the Second Square to None label. He also occassionally records similar solo sound design material as “Muttermal”.

Press Quotes:

“…a rave inspired experimental break-acid-core thrill ride of endless ideas and possibilities…melodies evolve and twist, beats fracture and congeal and synths collide! It’s exciting!” (Jason Forrest, Cock Rock Disco)

“Another artist who breaks out of the mould is Herv…informed by Gameboy sounds, classical elements and innovative phrases that loop and morph into something wholly unique. Though his music is largely laptop-based, live he’s a joy to watch, contorting his body to each break and beat in his music, and when the genre you play is breakcore, that’s a smorgasbord of breaks and beats to gesture to.” (Niall Byrne, The State)

“Like watching late period Rick Wakeman being attacked by robots made out of old spring coils. And if you don’t think that’s a pretty appealing vision, well then, you’re missing a few mental teeth.” (Byron Coley, The Wire)

“A vicious aural assault of breakcore, chip tunes and gabba was bestowed on all that gathered, delivered by a tall bald bespeckled man on stage who appeared to have some kind of electric charge surging through his body…” (John Lillis, Limerick Event Guide.)

“…the best/fun rave/mash sets I’ve seen: totally the style of music and mixing I like to hear….” (Henry Collins aka Shitmat, Wrong Music/Planet Mu)
